Moving from Thailand? We Smooth Your Way
Planning on moving from Thailand? Our services are designed for comprehensive and complete satisfaction. They include:
Advice on Moving Abroad
If you have seldom (or never) moved abroad before, it’s hard to know what to take and what to leave behind. Then, on arrival, there are customs restrictions and rules and regulations to be dealt with. This is important information that affects all international movers.
Customs Documentation etc.
We provide full assistance with the completion of any forms required for Customs and agriculture, both in Thailand as well as in most overseas countries.
Marine Insurance
We offer a comprehensive ‘all risks replacement’ marine insurance, a vital consideration when moving internationally.
- Ornaments, glassware, china and other small items will be individually wrapped in packaging recommended during our pre-move survey, before being packed into standard export cartons.
- All clothing will be transferred on their existing hangers into upright wardrobes, or into flat clothing cartons (as preferred).
- Lampshades and pictures will be placed into cartons made specifically to protect them in transit.
- Furniture will be carefully wrapped with specifically designed export wrapping materials, as detailed during our Pre-Move Survey. All antiques or polished furniture can be further protected with a hard cardboard wrap over the normal export wrapping material.
- Designer cases can be specifically built for fragile or valuable items i.e. artwork, glass, etc.
- All packing will be carried out in your home by experienced and professional staff. Once packed, your consignment will be loaded into the containers at residence to avoid unnecessary “double handling”.
- Upon arrival in Thailand we will arrange for the mandatory Customs and agricultural clearance and delivery to your new home.
- On the day of delivery, our staff will unwrap and place furniture items into your new home, unpack cartons to table surface (as required) and remove all of the waste packing materials for disposal or recycling.
The Pre-Move Survey
Prior to your move, we will arrange for our overseas associates to visit your home to conduct a Pre-Move Survey.
This survey is an accurate assessment of the volume of goods to be moved and the packing materials required.
In addition, this is your best opportunity to ask questions and inform us of any special requirements that you may have.
Prior to the assessment you should decide which items are to be moved and by what method (ie Seafreight, Airfreight, Storage or Not-to-move).
We will need to visually check all items to be moved
Yes, even cupboard contents, including smaller items such as china and glassware.
We will also provide valuable advice as to what to send by air or sea, relative to your anticipated accommodation conditions and circumstances offshore.
Remember to include all items to be moved
DO NOT FORGET to advise us of any items that you will be purchasing or items that are not at your home (such as office papers, items being repaired or perhaps located at a friend or relative’s house).
Delivery to Your New Home
Please let us know if your new home has any access difficulties
For example, 4th floor delivery with no lift, parking restrictions, limited driveway access, lots of steps, overhanging trees, narrow roads; so that we can make the necessary arrangements with our delivery associate in advance.
Before delivery, please consider which room you would like the individual items of furniture placed.
Once the delivery crew has arrived, there is less time to think about these types of issues; and it is preferred if items are not repeatedly moved from room to room during the delivery process.
You will need to be on hand to personally check-off our Packing List as each item is carried into your new home
Every carton and furniture item is individually numbered. In the event that items are missing or damaged, please note this clearly on the Packing List against the appropriate number and ask our crew leader to report this to his supervisor as soon as possible after the delivery is completed.
Should you wish to unpack some of the cartons at a later date, notate the inventory accordingly (ie; “Items 9 – 24 received but not checked”).
Any unpacking that you require has to be completed at the time of delivery
Our delivery crew will remove waste packing materials. Should an extra collection (of packing materials) be required at a later date, an additional fee may be charged.
In most situations however, we will return to collect packaging materials for recycling or disposal at a later date (one trip only – vehicle in the area. This excludes country or rural locations).
Insurance
Your consignment should be insured for “All-Risks” full replacement cover from the time of collection through to final delivery. This cover ensures that if any damage occurs, the item will be repaired to your satisfaction.
In the event that the item cannot be repaired, it will be replaced with a similar item or the cash equivalent, at the insurer’s discretion and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the policy offered.
For valuation purposes you must estimate the replacement cost to ensure full cover and allow for depreciation if and where applicable. It is wise to prepare a detailed, valued listing for attachment to the insurance document, time permitting.
Our consultant and/or the insurance proposal form can provide you with further information and advice as and if required.
Storage
In the event that you require storage when moving from Thailand, either in transit, at origin or at destination, Siam Move Management can arrange this.
Items for permanent storage will be packed to the same high standard as items nominated for export. Where possible, storage containers will be loaded and unloaded at residence to minimise handling.
